As the landslide crisis in Rancho Palos Verdes intensifies, an additional 105 homes in the Seaview community have recently lost power, bringing the total number of affected residences to over 245. This follows the earlier electricity shutoff for 140 homes in the Portuguese Bend community, where residents are under an evacuation warning.
Southern California Edison (SCE) has implemented these power shutoffs as a safeguard against the worsening land movement in the area. The situation is complex, with varying power outages from 24 hours to indefinitely. The ongoing crisis has also led to significant infrastructure damage, including broken water and gas pipes, displaced sewer collection systems, and leaning utility poles.
