The Contractor State Licensing Board (CSLB) released an official bulletin last week formalizing its July 27, 2021 vote to rescind the ability for C-46 license holders to install solar-charged batteries effective November 1, 2021. The decision comes amidst growing consumer demand for solar and storage technologies along with economy-wide worker shortages. Only electrical contractors will be licensed to install batteries in California. If a company only has a C-46 license and not a C-10 license, they will not be able to install battery storage systems.
